Waste Plastic Granulator: Make Plastic Scrap into Cash

November 24, 2020     News

Recycling is a process of turning scrap materials into new materials and objects. In the process of recycling, waste plastic granulator is used. But in order for people to collect and sell plastic waste, one needs to know whether your material is worth recycling before going to a collection point. The key is that the material needs to be homogenous and free of contamination. Only these factors ensure a lower cost of material management and a higher value of post-processed materials.

Here is some further information to help you with the plastic waste that you have to sell.  By regulations, all plastic products should have the recycling code from 1-9 embossed on to them as part of their manufacturing process. Sometimes the code may be missing and makes the classification difficult.

The common favorable recycling items are shown below. Feel free to contact your local recycling station to consult about which are worth recycling.

  • Pallets, totes, skids, IBCs, pipes, and crates
  • LDPE, LLDPE, sheets, stretch wrap, rolls, and film of any kind
  • PP, PE copolymer, homopolymer, injection, blow molding or extrusion grade
  • ABS, ABS/PC, PC, HIPS, and GPPS of all forms
  • Nylon 6, 66, 11, 12, and all other forms
  • PVC, blister pack, window profile, flexible, and all other forms
  • PTFE, TPE, TPO, PPS, PPO, PEI, and all other engineering grades

Wiscon offers different configurations and models of Waste Plastic Granulator is able to process the above materials.

PLASTIC GRANULATION

PET – Code 1

The most seen plastic in our life and it is the major component of plastic bottles like soda bottles and containers. Take away the cap and peel off the label, and what remains is the most valuable materials: polyethylene terephthalate. Easy for waste plastic crusher to process.

HDPE – Code 2

High-density polyethylene is one of the world’s most popular products and it is the material which we buy the most.  It is very versatile in terms of products that can be made from it, but it is also easy to recycle. Some examples of HDPE plastic waste streams that we buy and recycle include wheelie bins, crates, drums, barrels and utility pipes.

PP – Code 5

Polypropylene is another widely used polymer. It is chemical and fatigue resistant and has good elasticity and toughness properties. Some examples of PP plastic waste streams that we buy and recycle include buckets, grandstand seating, crates and pots.

“Other” – code 7 – including PC (polycarbonate)

Unfortunately, code 7 was derived for a whole range of plastics, and historically, materials that were difficult to recycle were placed into the category. Over time there have been a number of advances in recycling and many of these materials can now be recycled.  PC is a very strong material and has the capability to be as clear as glass. It can also be found in a range of colours. Some examples of polycarbonate plastic waste streams that we buy and recycle include trays, bottles from water cooler machines, manufacturing waste and very high-quality roofing.

ABS – code 8

Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene is a very strong material that is impact resistant. It is lightweight and can be injection molded and extruded.  It is the material from which Lego is made. Some examples of ABS plastic waste streams that we buy and recycle include transportation reels, bins and machine bodies.
