Wiscon Envirotech supplies RDF production line that consumes a variety of post-consumer and industial waste and biomass, in the end, that produces RDF (refuse-derived fuel). The benefits of RDF is covered in this article.
The benefits of RDF (Refuse Derive Fuel) and SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel) are obvious. Comparing to tradition energy sources like coal and gasoline, RDF also has a high calorific value with features like stable combustion, easy to transport and to store, low secondary pollution and dioxin-like substances.
It is an environmentally-friendly fuel mainly targeted at enterprises (such as power plants, cement kilns, heating companies, etc.) and small and medium-sized businesses (such as baths, restaurants, hotels, etc.) that require thermal energy. RDF is a great alternative to fossil fuels, because it has a lower price and similar combustion characteristics, which will further explain.
Lastly, RDF is made of post-consumer and post-industry waste. This means the more we use, the more we divert the waste from landfills. These 2 kinds of waste never stops generating as time go by. This also means RDF is infinite.
RDF – refuse-derived fuel’s definition is to describe all the non-recyclable, but still calorific fractions of waste. Thanks to their waste content and propor segragation and RDF process, RDF can be seen as an attractive alternative fuel. Refuse-derived fuel, also called SRF (solid recovered fuel), remains a blend of non-recyclable plastics, papers, wood, and textiles. Please see more from this link:
The waste-to-energy process is offered by Wiscon Envirotech. In this plant, we turn waste into fuel in 6 steps. The typical process includes
Wiscon’s RDF production line allows for the processing of a wide range of low-density waste materials into RDF fluff. Or, Wiscon can take one-step further, transforming RDF fluff to high-density briquettes with an energy value of about 19-23 MJ per kg
1 Corrosion resistance. RDF has a moisture content of 10 % and is manufactured with some calcium additives, which gives it good corrosion resistance.
2 Combustibility. It has a norminal calorific value of 20MJ/kg and a uniform shape, which is conducive to stable combustion and efficiency. It can be burned alone or mixed with coal and wood chips. A common way is to replace 30% of the fuel in a cement kiln.
3 Environmental characteristics. As only a part of the plastic containing chlorine is used, together with lime, dechlorination can be carried out in the furnace, suppressing the production of chlorinated gases and reducing the emission of pollutants such as flue gas and dioxins.
The ingredient of RDF is consumer waste and industrial waste. While we convert more waste to energy (W to E), we reduce the waste end up in landfills.
4 Operability. RDF can be produced without the restriction of site and scale, and it is easy to produce. It is generally packed in 500kg bags and transported by truck, which is convenient for management. It is suitable for use in power stations of a certain scale after decentralised manufacture in small cities, which is conducive to improving power generation efficiency and dioxin control.
5 Usability. Although it is not as convenient as oil or gas, it is similar to low-quality coal. In addition, it is reported that when RDF is used as a fuel for cement rotary kilns in Kawanoeda cement plant in Japan, its high ash content has also become a useful raw material and is beginning to be promoted in other cement plants.
6 Residue properties. RDF manufacturing process produced by the non-combustible material accounted for about 1 – 8 appropriate, when the treatment can be; after burning residue accounted for about 8 – 25 % arsenic incinerator ash less, and clean, high calcium content, easy to use, to reduce landfill beneficial.
7 Maintenance management characteristics. RDF production equipment without high temperature, long life, easy maintenance and management, easy to start and stop, conducive to the treatment of waste plastics. The life of the incinerator is 15-20 years, with 2-4 weeks stoppage for regular inspection, strict management, inconvenient for waste plastics disposal, and not suitable for landfill disposal.
RDF is conducive to promoting the development of a resource-saving and environment-friendly society with its high calorific value, stable combustion, easy transportation, easy storage, low secondary pollution and low emissions of dioxin-like substances. RDF has a huge potential in becoming the best alternative energy.
