The benefits of RDF(Refuse Derive Fuelt ) and SRF(Solid Recovered Fuel) are obvious. Comparing to tradition energy sources like coal, RDF has a high calorific value, stable combustion, easy to transport, easy to store, low secondary pollution and dioxin-like substances.

The waste-to-energy method is being used to process waste into a more stable fuel with a higher calorific value. When waste is used shredded and processed, it is generally referred to as refuse derived fuel (RDF).
Wiscon’s RDF production line allows for the processing of a wide range of low-density waste materials from plastic, RDF, SRF, to dry sewage sludge and biomass into high-density briquettes with an energy value of about 19-23 kJ per kg.
1 Corrosion resistance. RDF has a moisture content of 10 % and is manufactured with some calcium additives, which gives it good corrosion resistance.
2 Combustibility. It has a high calorific value of kJ/kg and a uniform and homogeneous shape, which is conducive to stable combustion and efficiency. It can be burned alone or mixed with coal and wood chips. Its combustion and power generation efficiency is higher than that of waste-to-energy plants.
3 Environmental characteristics. As only a part of the plastic containing chlorine is used, together with lime, dechlorination can be carried out in the furnace, suppressing the production of chlorinated gases and reducing the emission of pollutants such as flue gas and dioxins.
4 Operability. RDF can be produced without the restriction of site and scale, and it is easy to produce. It is generally packed in 500kg bags and transported by truck, which is convenient for management. It is suitable for use in power stations of a certain scale after decentralised manufacture in small cities, which is conducive to improving power generation efficiency and dioxin control.
5 Usability. Although it is not as convenient as oil or gas, it is similar to low-quality coal. In addition, it is reported that when RDF is used as a fuel for cement rotary kilns in Kawanoeda cement plant in Japan, its high ash content has also become a useful raw material and is beginning to be promoted in other cement plants.
6 Residue properties. RDF manufacturing process produced by the non-combustible material accounted for about 1 – 8 appropriate, when the treatment can be; after burning residue accounted for about 8 – 25 % arsenic incinerator ash less, and clean, high calcium content, easy to use, to reduce landfill beneficial.
7 Maintenance management characteristics. RDF production equipment without high temperature, long life, easy maintenance and management, easy to start and stop, conducive to the treatment of waste plastics. The life of the incinerator is 15-20 years, with 2-4 weeks stoppage for regular inspection, strict management, inconvenient for waste plastics disposal, and not suitable for landfill disposal.
